I believe that we are souls from a much greater realm. We are on a great journey. We are on this earth to learn the meaning of true love. So, what does love mean to you?
Love is impossible to define. Love is demonstrated. Through our demonstrations and actions of love, we paint a picture of what love might look like.
There is so much that we don’t understand, but this doesn’t make life less beautiful. We stare up at the cosmos and down into the ocean depths. We study physics, biology, and complex mathematics. And we do all of this with a sense of wonder.
We don’t understand the half of it, but we extend love and a sense of respect to these things which we don’t understand. So why is it, that we can’t extend love to what we don’t understand in each other?
True Love, God, and Ourselves
I believe in God. The bible says that God IS Love. I take this meaning literally.
We are reflections of God. If we want to understand ourselves, we must understand God. In order to understand God, we must understand Love. It only makes sense then, that we, like God, are also extensions of Love.
So, to understand ourselves, we must understand Love. This is why we are here. We must decide for ourselves, what love is and how we will demonstrate it.
When we die, what will be said at our funeral? We are remembered for how we make people feel. Love is an intangible but powerful force. It is a feeling.
How we make people feel literally means, how did we demonstrate and extend love. This is all that matters. It is the sum and sole purpose of our existence.
We quite literally are Love. Our self-actualization leads us to this truth. That is why we are here. To extend love, and to use it’s power, to create a life of love.
True Love, My Homosexuality, and the LGBTQ Community
I am grateful for what and who I am. Its challenges have forced me to face fear and to ask the questions that very few have the courage to ask. My homosexuality has proved to be a means to my enlightenment.
My identity does not afford me the luxury of fitting in and not asking questions. Love demands that we ask questions. We must understand the infinity of Love’s power.
My homosexuality puts me in conflict with members of my family, my religious upbringing, and a large percentage of humanity.
They are afraid. This fear is caused by a lack of understanding. I am judged because of this fear. And I have learned that fear makes monsters out of men.
It is a matter of discovering our identity. Will you embrace who you are and so extend love without question. Or will you deny who you are and cringe in fear.
Let me try to say this as clearly as possible. God is Love. God is infinite and so Love is infinite. We are extensions of God and so we are extensions of Love.
We are Love. If love is infinite. Then so are we. This means that we cannot be defined. To define something is to limit it and cram it into a box.
My identity as a homosexual and the identity of many in the LGBTQ community is a testament to the power of love. We recognize that we are extensions of love and so refuse to be defined.
I will be the first to admit that I don’t understand everyone in our community. It amazes me how courageous some are in their self-discovery. I don’t fully understand it, but it is beautiful. It is beautiful because it is Love.
